Abstract

1,028,680. Sewing machines. SINGER CO. Jan. 19, 1965 [Jan. 28, 1964], No. 2272/65. Heading D1G. A stitch length-adjustment lever in a sewing machine has a turnable knob screwed on its free end, a member slidably mounted on the lever has a flat surface engaging a flat surface on the machine frame to prevent rotation of said member on the lever, indicator means are provided at the end of said member adjacent the knob and means bias said member towards the knob. A lever 33, fixed to a pivoted block 17 for tilting the latter to vary the stitch length, has a rotatable knon 43 screwed on its face end. A sleeve 44, slidable on lever 33, is of rectangular cross section and engages the sides of a slot 37 provided in a plate 36 secured to the machine frame. A spring 46 bias sleeve 44 against knob 43. By turning knob 43 outwardly, an indicator member 45, provided on sleeve 44 adjacent knob 43, is disengaged from a stitch length scale provided on plate 36 adjacent slot 37. Knob 43 is turned inwardly to re-engage member 45 with said scale at the re-adjusted position of lever 33.
