Abstract
1,019,310. Sewing machines. SINGER CO. Dec. 9,1963 [Dec.10, 1962],No. 48584/63. Heading D1G. [Also in Division B7] The shaft 18, Fig. 1, of a sewing machine is driven from an electric motor 19 by a worm (not shown) on the motor shaft, a worm wheel 22 turnably supported on a bearing surface 23 on a sleeve 24 secured to the shaft 18 by a set screw 26, and a torsion spring 29 connected at one end 28 to the worm wheel 22 and at the other end 31 to a handwheel 41 (see Divison B7) secured to the shaft 18 by a screw 72. The latter serves as a counterweight.
