Abstract
1,027,229. Aquariums. E. BOEHRINGER. March 5, 1963 [March 30, 1962], No. 8657/63. Heading A1A. An aquarium from which water is constantly withdrawn and reintroduced has an inclined floor 4 and a pipe 5 connecting the lowest point of the floor to a filter 6. A pipe 8 supplies compressed air to siphon the water through the filter 6 and through a pipe 7 which passes over the frame of the aquarium to reintroduce the water into the aquarium. A plastic sponge is disposed at the inlet of the pipe 5. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the filter is contained in a box which extends through the lowest part of the aquarium floor and has holes for the passage of water into the filter. In a further modification, Fig. 4 (not shown)), the floor slopes to one side.
