Abstract
1,026,520. Magnetic holding devices. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. Ltd. Sept. 30, 1964 [Aug. 16, 1963], No. 32422/63. Heading H1P. A magnetic probe for removing swarf from tapped holes comprises a permanent magnet which can be magnetically connected to and disconnected from the probe. Magnet 1 is surrounded by a non-magnetic sheath 2 having integral lugs 3 and slides within non-magnetic tube 5 between ferromagnetic polepieces 6, 7. The required probe 8 is screwed into polepiece 7 and is energized when magnet 1 is in the position shown. In a modification the magnet is supported in a tubular plastics sleeve which slides on a second sleeve secured to the polepiece.
