Abstract

1,025,893. Mixing apparatus. W. LODIGE, F. LODIGE and J. LUCKE. Jan. 17, 1963 [Jan. 19, 1962], No. 2179/63. Heading B1C. A stirring member has scraper blades arranged at intervals along, and projecting over, its outer edge in order to loosen material which may adhere to the walls of the apparatus. As shown in Figs 1 and 2 a double ploughshare type stirrer 4 has scraper blades 5 attached to the stirrer edges 4b and operating closely to the container wall 1. They may be made of wearresistant material and have sharp edges 12 on the leading side to cut mainstations which are then loosened and lifted by the curved surfaces 11. The scraper blades do not extend for more than 50% of the length of the stirrer edge, which is positioned 10-50 mm. from the container wall. The stirrer may be shovel shaped or flat and inclined to the direction of rotation to which the scraper blades are normal, or alternatively the stirrer may be normal to the direction of rotation and the scraper blades inclined, see Figs 3-10, not shown. The surfaces 11 of the scraper blades may be flat.
