Abstract

1439648 Harvesting apparatus M JOURDAN 22 Aug 1973 [25 Aug 1972] 39857/73 Addition to 1355845 Heading A1F A device for use with a tractor to lift and chop vegetables comprises two forwardly diverging plates 8, 9, connected by a wall 10 which forms together with plate 9 part of a feed duct, leading via a conveyor 34 to a chopping device. A screw conveyor 16 mounted on the plate 8 lifts the upper ends of the stalks and forces them against a conical surface 140; the lower ends are then cut by rotary blades 14 and propelled into the feed duct by fingers 15. A compacting device 150, which may be a resilient blade or a wheel, held resiliently against a cylindrical surface 13a mounted above the blades 14 and rotating with them, aids the flow of vegetables into the duct.
