Abstract

1,024,554. Spring elements of elastomeric material. GEORGE ANGUS & CO. Ltd. Feb. 5, 1963 [Feb. 5, 1962], No. 4626/63. Heading F2S. A compression spring made of a block of cellular elastomeric material 11, is provided with a number of cavities 14, 15, each having converging opposed wall surfaces extending substantially transversely to the loading axis 12 of the element, the cavities being smaller parallel to the loading axis than transversely thereto. The cavities 14, 15 which are respectively partially and completely of lenticular form, are open to the exterior of the block so that natural air movement effectively dissipates any heat developed during use. The block 11 is bonded to a base plate 13. In a modification, Fig. 2, a block 18, substantially of conical form and having a rounded apex 19 provided with a protective cap 20, is bonded to a circular base 21 having a central hole 22 in communication with a blind vertical cavity 23. Inclined cavities 24, 25, of lenticular form and extending in different planes, cross each other at right-angles.
