Heading E2S A slider for a sliding clasp fastener, has a body 1 dimensioned to straddle interlocked fastener strips, the body having inwardly directed closure members 2 to urge the strips together into interlocking engagement, and at the end of the slider opposite to the closure members there is a strip separating element 3 dimensioned to enter between the interlocked strips and prise them apart, wherein the strip separating element is slidably mounted on the slider body, so as to allow limited movement away from it. The body and strip separating elements may be injection moulded from plastics material such as polyamide resin. The central part of the slider body has a passage 4 in which slides an arm 7 of the element 3 the other arm 8 bearing against the under surface of the fastener strips. The arm 7 is held in the passage by barbs on the arm co-operating with shoulders in the passage. The slider may be inserted over the fastener strips 14 in a locally opened region 15 by pulling the element 3 outwards and pushing the closure members 2 of the strips before pushing the element 3 inwards.
