[Also in Division F2] A telescopically-adjustable stay, particularly for the lifting device of a tractor, comprises a tube 1 and a rod 3 which are releasably locked together by a half nut 13 carried by a plate spring 12 on the tube 1, the half nut being forced against threads on the rod 3 by a wedge 10 on a rod 9 pivoted at 8 to an operating arm 6 pivoted to the tube 1. The wedge 10 reacts against a member 11 secured to the tube 1 and surrounding the half nut 13. In a modification the wedge 10 reacts against a leaf spring mounted within an enlarged member 11, the leaf spring being positioned by an adjusting screw.
