Abstract

1,098,008. Belt buckles. R. C. FISHER. June 16, 1965 [July 20, 1964], No. 25533/65. Heading E2A. A buckle comprises a U-shaped base 12 and a cover 20 housing a latch plate 14 the end face 54 of which is urged by a spring 16 to engage the edge of an aperture 60 in a belt tongue 30, one end of the latch plate 14 is pivotally retained by the bent over end portion 50 of the base 12 and the tongue is released by manually pressing on an operator 18 accessible through an aperture 85 in the cover 20. The bent over end portion 84 of the operator presses on side extensions of the latch face 54 releasing it from the tongue. A portion 72 of the spring supports the end of the tongue and prevents it pivoting downwardly when the latch is released. The belt portion 36 is looped round a bar 22 with end plates slidable in guides provided by flanges on the base member.
