Abstract

1,094,050. Writing instruments. J. S. STAEDTLER. Feb. 2, 1966 [July 17, 1965], No. 4648/66. Heading B6P. In a writing instrument of the kind having a point member 6 of synthetic fibres penetrating into an ink-absorbent insert 4 in an exchangeable cartridge 3 located in an outer casing, the writing tip of the member 6 is of smaller diameter than the remainder thereof. The member 6 is mounted in a metal bushing 8 which projects beyond the end of the outer casing and fits into the end of the cartridge 3. The neck 14 of the cartridge 3 has an opening 15 and internal longitudinal groove 16 admitting air to the inside of the cartridge. A longitudinal groove either in the insert 4 or the inner surface of the cartridge 3, or both, permits the air to flow along the cartridge. The cartridge complete with writing point may be provided with a protective cap (18, Fig. 4), during storage and transport, the cap serving also to cover the airopening 15.
