Abstract

[Also in Division E1] A diving means comprises a diver's breathng system having gas inlet/outlet means communicating by at least one conduit with a gas-filled chamber of diving-bell type. In the embodiment illustrated the diving suit 19 has helmet 24 connected to oxygen-filled chamber 16 by conduits 21, 22, the total volume of the chamber and of the interior of the conduits being at least 40 litres. Pump 23 circulates breathing gas through the conduits. If the chamber is to be used at a depth of 200 metres the total volume of the chamber and conduits must be at least 40 litres at the operational depth which means twenty-one times 40 litres at surface level. In other embodiments the diver uses an operational platform which is provided with a gas space according to the invention or the gas space is arranged in a diving bell.
