Abstract

1,091,771. Rail joints. BECORIT GRUBENAUSBAU G.m.b.H. Jan. 4, 1965 [June 20, 1964], No. 263/65. Heading B7L. An articulated rail joint between I-shaped rails 10a and 10b comprises a pivotal first connection formed by plates 15a and 15b, welded below running flanges 13a and 13b respectively, plate 15a being formed with an aperture and plate 15b with a bolt 18 such that the pivotal axis 23 is perpendicular to the rail webs 11a and 11b, and a second connection consisting of a curved pin 14b adapted to slide in an apertured member 14a, the pin having a centre of curvature coincident with the pivotal axis 23. The free end of the bolt 18 may be formed with diametrically opposed radially projecting lugs 19 adapted to pass through corresponding slots 20a at the edge of the aperture. The internal surfaces of the apertures may be generally curved to permit angular adjustment of the rails in the horizontal plane. If the flanges 12a and 12b are to be used as the running flanges then the first connection is installed below these flanges in cut-out parts of the webs and the second connection situated below the lower flanges.
