Abstract

1,089,750. Releasable fastenings. ARENCO A.B. June 30, 1965 [Sept. 25, 1964], No. 27678/ 65. Heading E2A. A fastening means for releasably fastening a tool member 3 to a support member 4 comprises at least two guide pins 13, 14 on one member and holes 15, 16 corresponding to the pins in the other member said pins and holes being located on different sides of a shoulder-forming part 19 which part is centrally situated in the means and disposed on one member, and at least one spring clip 1, 2 fastened to the other member and arranged to snap onto said shoulder-forming-part whereby the tool member is resiliently attached to the support member. In the construction shown the support member is a plate 4 which is secured to a rod 5 by means of a cutter pin 6, the rod 5 being part of a press plunger in a moulding machine; two spring clips are used, each of which comprises two portions, each shaped like a figure six, the two portions being joined together by a connecting portion and the free end portions being bent towards each other so that they are aligned parallel with the connecting portion. The free end portions are received in a hole in the plate 4 so that the clip straddles the plate and can be pivoted relative to the plate. The shoulderforming-part 19 is attached to the tool by means of a screw 20 and the part is formed with a pair of shoulders 17, 18 each shoulder being engaged by the connecting portions of one of the clips to releasably secure the tool to the plate 4. Each shoulder is provided with a groove to receive the connecting portion of its clip. The plate 4 is recessed to receive the part 19 and on each side of the recess one of the pins 13, 14 is situated, the corresponding holes 15, 16 in the tool each being larger in diameter than its pin to allow a small amount of movement of the tool relative to the plate 4. The portions of each clip adjacent the free end portions are curved and are received in a recess in the rod 5. In a modification the pins can be on the tool and the holes in the plate and there can be more than two. The parts 19 can be carried by the plate 4 instead of by the tool and in this case the clips are carried by the tool.
