Abstract

1,088,460. Roof trusses BUTLER MANUFACTURING CO. July 25, 1966 [July 30, 1965], No. 33377/66. Heading E1K. A roof truss comprises a pair of parallel bottom chords 24, a number of spaced cross members 25 fixed to the chords and sets of four converging struts 26 forming pyramidal modules, bracket and spacer lugs 30 being secured to the outsides of the bott÷m chords. The truss is completed by a top-hat section top chord 28 bolted to plates at the apices of the pyramids The. chord memibers 24 are of channel section with an obtuse angled upper flange and the struts are of angle section such that the pyramid faces are uniplanar. The lugs 30 provide for lifting, non-jamming stacking and bolting adjacent trusses; the gap between the trusses being useable for ventilation. Strengthened joints are used for cantilever trusses and at junctions overlying supporting beams 20, to which the top chords are bolted.
