697,406. Metal frameworks for supporting floors. BEARDMORE, J. H., MARTENS, L, KOSLOFF, B., and ROUSSEL, A. Nov. 1, 1951 [May 2, 1951], No. 10256/51. Class 20(ii) A metal framework for supporting floors comprises a plurality of cells each of hexagonal form in plan, view, a Y-section stanchion 41, Fig. 1, with its flanges at 120 degrees to each other, being disposed at each corner of the hexagon and girders 42 connecting the flanges of adjacent stanchions forming the sides of the hexagon. Each stanchion 41 carries an openwork tapered cantilever 43, Figs. 1, 3, extending radially inwards of the cell, the cantilevers 43 being interconnected by a centre block 44 provided with recesses which are engaged by recesses 46 in vertical web members 47 at the ends of the cantilevers. Adjacent cantilevers are interconnected by parallel I-section joist members 50 and additional radially disposed joist members 51 may be provided.
