Abstract
Aliphatic isocyanato-carboxylic acid esters of polyfunctional hydroxy compounds are obtained by reacting aliphatic isocyanato-carboxylic acid chlorides with polyhydric alcohols or phenols or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt thereof in the presence of hydrogen chloride binding agents, a stoichiometric excess thereof being used in the presence of a free polyhydric alcohol or phenol. The reaction may be carried out in a homogeneous phase in an organic solvent or in a two phase system by dissolving or suspending the hydroxy compound in an aqueous medium and adding an inert solvent. Examples are given for the production of the above compounds.
