[Also in Divisions B1 B7 and F2] In a valve for supplying liquid to brushes with hollow rubber stocks through which water or detergent solution can be fed to bristles e.g. in car, cattle and building washing, an inlet port 6 opens from a blind bore in one end of an elongated circular section body into a circumferential groove 26 thereof and may be shut off from or connected to either of 180 degrees apart outlet ports 7a, 7b, opening from blind bores in the other end of the body 5, by a longitudinal slot 14 in an inner sleeve 13 which is manually rotatable by the engagement of the inclined end 16 thereof with the internal shoulder 21 of an externally fluted 25 outer sleeve 17, formed by a short length of tube 27 pinned therein and sealed therewith by synthetic rubber "O" rings 23, 24. Water is fed either from outlet port 7b along tube 30 directly to the hollow handle 12 or stock of the brush, or from outlet 7a directly through a container 28 containing toroidal tablets 29 of detergents to discharge solution through an annular space 33 around the outlet tube 30 or, if the tube 30 fills outlet 32, down a groove on one side thereof. The liquid issuing from the brush may be aerated by air entrained from a groove 34 along the external threaded portion 35 of container 28. In an alternative embodiment, single inlet and outlet ports are provided directly connected by the longitudinal groove alone and relative axial displacement of the outer and inner sleeves is prevented by a circlip engaging opposed circumferential grooves in the members. The position of the valve is indicated by an index on the body related to marks on the sleeve 17.
