Abstract

821,898. Valves. CROSSE & BLACKWELL Ltd. Dec. 13, 1957 [June 25, 1957], No. 19993/57. Class 135. A rotary valve comprises a valve body 1 having a port 3 leading into one end and two other ports 4, 5 in the cylindrical wall of the body, and a cylindrical valve closure member 6 rotatable therein. The valve closure member has an inner cylindrical core on which an outer cylindrical sleeve 7 is fitted and has two passages 9, 10, the passage 9 placing the port 3 in communication with the port 4 in one position of the closure member and the passage 10 placing the port 4 in communication with the port 5 in another position of the closure member. A removable cap 13 is provided at the end of the valve body remote from the port 3, and has a gasket ring 15 which bears on the ends of both the valve body and the closure member. The cap is secured by a bayonettype fitting 14. The outer cylindrical sleeve 7 may be made of a non-corrosive bearing metal and may be secured to the inner core by means of a grub screw 8.
