Abstract

1,080,217. Moulding concrete tubes. M. J. ROUVIN, P. F. ROUVIN, and P. E. ROUVIN. Oct. 21, 1964 [Nov. 29, 1963], No. 42921/64. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F2] Concrete tubes 28 are formed by extruding the concrete through a die defined between an outer mould 20 and one or more cores 23. The concrete is introduced, in liquid form, into the die from a hopper 22 and is pressed stepwise therethrough by a ram 17 which is reciprocated by a piston and cylinder device 15, 16, 18. Excess water is removed from the concrete by means of vacuum chambers 24, 24<SP>1</SP> which surround perforated portions 25, 25<SP>1</SP> of the mould and core or cores respectively. Holes 5 may be made in the walls of the tube by projecting members 29 carried by, and movable with, the ram 17. Friction, between the outer corners on the dividing walls, of the tube, and the die, is minimized by plates (8) and (9) (see Fig. 7, not shown) which move with the ram.
