Abstract
The reaction product of an olefinic or cycloolefinic oxide with gelatin is described. Oxides specified are ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, butylene oxide, styrene oxide and cyclohexene oxide. The reaction product is made by heating the oxide with gelatin, e.g. in aqueous solution, and possibly in the presence of a catalyst such as an alkoxide, oxide or hydroxide of lithium, potassium, sodium, calcium, zinc or lead.
