Abstract
11 - Desoxy - 17a - hydroxy - corticosterone 21-acetate is prepared by reaction of 17a -hydroxy-progesterone with iodine, methanol and a chlorinated alkane in the presence of a peroxide catalyst to give 21-iodo-17a -hydroxy-progesterone, and reacting this product with an acetic acid salt. The peroxide catalyst specified is cumene hydroperoxide.
