Fuel is injected into a cylindrical combustion chamber 1, inclined to the cylinder axis, through a first jet 4 along the longest wall 6 of the chamber and through a second jet (5) Fig. 1 (not shown) towards the region of the hot core of circulating air. The jet 4 may have a slight directional component opposite to the swirling direction of the air.
