Abstract

1,073,661. Doer frames. MUIRHEAD & SONS Ltd. April 2, 1964 [April 2, 1963], No. 12942/63. Heading E1J. A composite door unit for installation directly in a building consists of a door frame adjustable to the width of the wall in which is the aperture to be closed and comprises two sub-frames 8a, 8b, 9a, 9b disposed in side by side relationship, with interengaging sliding portions formed by rabbets 12a, 12b and a door 4 secured to one of the subframes and a door stop formed by elongated strips 5, 6 secured to at least one subframe to overlie the gaps 15 or lines of contact between the subframes when installed, packing strip 18 between the door and frame and a band 16 bound around the frame to prevent distortion of the frame during transport. The door stop 5, 6 may be secured to both subframes to hold them together. A facing member 13a or 13b may be attached to, or be integral with each sub frame.
