Abstract

1,073,143. Exhaust purifiers. KATASHI AOI. July 15, 1964 [July 17, 1963; Feb.26, 1964], No. 29148/64. Heading F1B. Exhaust gases pass into a spherical expansion chamber 5 and then through openings in its wall into a filter chamber 6 in an outer casing 17. A spherical inner chamber 3 has a portion 16 of its perforated wall unperforated to deflect the entering gases outwardly through the expansion chamber 5 into the filter chamber, from which the gases flow through perforated partitions 7... 11. When the material in chamber 6 becomes clogged, the gases pass through an opening 12 into a second expansion and filter section B and finally, when this is clogged, through opening 13 into a third section C. The filter material may be carbon, coke, glass wool or metallic fibres.
