Abstract
1,111,471. Exhaust silencers. PECO SILENCERS Ltd. July 19, 1965 [July 22, 1964], No. 29836/64. Heading F1B. A perforated pipe 21 passing through a chamber 12 filled with round absorbing material e. g. glass wool is out of alignment with the inlet 15 or the outlet 16 or both, the pipes 15, 16, 21 all being directed longitudinally of the casing 10. In Fig. 1 the inlet 15 opens through aperture 17 into chamber 19 and pipe 21 discharges into chamber 20 opening into pipe 16 through aperture 18. Pipe 15 may open directly into pipe 21, chamber 19 being omitted; alternatively chamber 20 may be omitted. In Fig. 7 pipes 15, 16, are connected to perforated pipes 21a, 21b passing through sound absorbing chambers 12a, 12b and opening directly into a central chamber 41. In Fig. 9 (not shown) a pair of outlet pipes (16a), (16b) lead from the chamber (20) into which the perforated pipe (21) opens.
