Abstract

1,065,681. Suction conduits. W. REINERS. April 8, 1964 [April 13, 1963], No. 14464/64. Heading D1J. A suction conduit 100 for holding thread ends in a textile machine-e.g. a winding machine-has a mouth lying in a smoothsurfaced plate 51 which is movably mounted to bring the mouth into position over the conduit end to open the conduit. When a package is inserted in magazen 20 the plate which is mounted on a shaft pivotally mounted on conduit 100 is pivoted and the thread end inserted in the conduit, a spring then returning the plate to clamp the thread. Stops limit the movement of the plate. When a supply package 5 is exhausted and the empty tube ejected a cam 111 causes shutter lever 205 to pivot and thus allow reserve package 5' to fall onto peg 5a which has been pivoted clockwise to receive it. Arms 11 and 10 convey the new thread, whose end is trapped between plate 51 and conduit 100, to knotting device 9 while arm 6 supplies the thread end from take-up spool 4. After knotting, the thread end leading to conduit 100 is severed, and cam 111 causes, through rod 108, plate 51 to pivot to open the conduit so that the clamped thread end may be released and sucked away. Instead of a round magazine 20, a series magazine, as in Specification 931,675, may be used.
