Abstract

Crystals of hydroxysodalite 3(Al2O3, 2SiO2, Na2O) 2NaOH of size 10-50 m are crystallized from the reaction product of one gm. mole of amorphous silica, one gm. mole aluminium hydroxide, five gm. moles of caustic soda and thirty-five gm. moles of water heated to 325 DEG C. for five days in a copper-lined autoclave.ALSO:Hydroxy sodalite 3(Al2O3, 2SiO2, Na2O) 2NaOH is used as an anion exchange in a closed copper tube for alkaline solutions containing hydracid anions at temperatures of 200 DEG C or more.
