Abstract
1,061,555. Potassium monopersulphate. L'AIR LIQUIDE SOC. ANON. POUR L'ETUDE ET L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES GEORGES CLAUDE. March 10, 1964 [March 15, 1963], No. 10161/64. Addition .to 979,450. Heading C1A. A process for the production of a mixture comprising KHSO 5 and K 2 S 2 O 8 , the KHSO 5 , constituting at least 40% by weight of the mixture, comprises reacting H 2 O 2 with cone. H 2 SO 4 or oleum to form a H 2 SO 5 solution and partially neutralizing with an aqueous solution of a basic potassium compound (e.g. K 2 CO 3 ) to precipitate the mixture of salts, a quantity of K 2 S 2 O 8 .being added to the reaction mixture before neutralization and the process being carried out at a temperature not exceeding 30‹ C. The K 2 S 2 O 8 may be added in the solid state and in a quantity so that the molecular ratio of K 2 S 2 O 8 to H 2 SO 5 present or to be formed is 0À1-1À2. Also a quantity of K 2 SO 4 (preferably in the solid state) may also be added to the reaction mixture, so that the molecular ratio of K 2 SO 4 to H 2 SO 5 is 0À25-0À75.
