Abstract
1,207,570. Magnesium hexafluorosilicate FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 30 Oct., 1968 [25 Nov., 1967], No. 51391/68. Heading C1A. Magnesium hexafluorosilicate is prepared by mixing an aqueous mixture of magnesium chloride and hexafluorosilicic acid (molar ratio 1: 1) with hot gases (inert to the reaction) in a reaction and drying zone, with the result that hydrogen chloride is evolved, and the product is separated in solid form from the by-products. The magnesium chloride may be added as a solution of any concentration up to saturation point, or it may be added in aqueous suspension or as a solid. The hexafluorosilicic acid may be added as a solution of any concentration up to 60% by weight. The drying gases, preferably air, preferably enter at temperatures between 100‹ and 150‹ C. The air outlet temperature is preferably below 60‹ C. Hydrogen chloride accumulating in the drying air may be removed in a washing tower and the magnesium hexafluorosilicate product may be separated from the gases by means of a cyclone.
