Abstract

1,060,340. Feeding egg trays. VAN KATWIJK'S INDUSTRIEEN N.V. Sept. 3, 1965 [Sept. 3, 1964], No. 37870/65. Heading B8S. The bottom egg tray in a stack (22) (Fig. 2, not shown) is pulled downwardly by grippers (20) while the remainder of the stack is supported by wedge-shaped members (13) previously pushed between the flanges of the bottom two trays. The bottom tray is then lowered, supported by members (6), to deliver the tray to a conveyer comprising a pair of adjustable spaced bands (28). In the embodiment described, the grippers comprise pivoted tines controlled by levers (21) (Fig. 6, not shown) swung to open the grippers, during their descent, by fixed cam surfaces (27) and automatically latched open by a pivoted bar (24) which is pushed aside, at the upper end of the movement of the grippers, by a fixed abutment (25). The grippers and the supports (6) are raised and lowered by a cam (36) (Fig. 2) and the wedge-shaped members (13) are carried by arms (11), which may be adjustable, swung about shafts (9) by a further cam (38). The machine may automatically complete one delivery cycle each time it receives a signal from an egg-packaging machine.
