Abstract

1,059,698. Bearings. W. SCHAEFFLER, and G. SCHAEFFLER, [trading as INDUSTRIEWERK SCHAEFFLER o.H.G.]. Dec. 3, 1965 [Dec. 3, 1964], No. 51456/65. Heading F2A. A cage for a roller bearing is made of synthetic plastics material and comprises end rings (3, 4), Fig. 1 (not shown), connected by bars (2). The radial dimension of each endring is half the radial dimension of the bars. The end-ring (4) extends from the internal diameter of the cage to the middle of the bar cross-section and the end-ring (3) extends from the middle of the bar cross-section to the outer diameter of the cage. A reinforcing ring (5) of metal, for example, is provided in the endring (3) and has an axially-extending portion (6) within each bar (2). In modifications, both end-rings have reinforcing-rings (5) with axiallyextending portions (6); the portions (6) may have radially-inwardly or radially-outwardly directed projections (7), Fig. 3 (not shown), which extend to the internal or external periphery of the cage respectively, the end rings may have projections (8), Fig. 5 (not shown), which are directed radially-inwardly to the inner diameter of the end-ring or are directed radiallyoutwardly to the outer diameter of the endring; the reinforcing rings (5) may be interconnected by rods (9); and the projections (8) could be formed into a stiffening-ring.
