In a continuous casting mould the mould wall or walls coming into contact with the melt is/are made of pure molybdenum or alloys thereof, made by powder metallurgy. The mould may be of one piece tubular construction or multipart construction in which the mould walls are formed by plates or sheets. The mould walls form the internal lining of a mould body made from another metal such as copper or iron.
