Abstract
1,053,100. Polyamides. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. Oct. 17, 1963 [Oct. 18, 1962], No. 41001/63. Heading C3R. A process for the production of polyamides comprises condensing a practically equimolar mixture of a diamine and an ester of a dicarboxylic acid of the formula HOOC-R-COOH where R is (-CH 2 -) n and n is an integer, with a monohydric alcohol, in the presence of 1 to 50% by weight of water based on the polymerforming reactants. Specified esters are those of methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol or butanol with - malonic, succinic, glutaric, palmitic, azelaic, suberic or sebacic acid. Specified diamines are tetramethylene, pentamethylene, hexamethylene, octamethylene and decamethylene diamine and dicyclohexylaminomethane. Copolyamide forming reactants, e.g. #-caprolactam may be present in the reaction mixtures.
