Abstract

Lubricants contain as an additive, e.g. in amount 1-2 weight per cent, at least one carbodiimide, which may be a mono- or polycarbodiimide, including 2,6,21,61-tetra-iso propyl-diphenyl carbodiimide, di-cyclohexyl-carbodiimide, and tetramethylene - o ,o 1 - bis - (tertbutyl -carbodiimide), many others also being specified. The base oil of the lubricants may be a mineral oil or a polyether or polyether ester oil containing -(CH2)4-O- groups alternating with one another or with other alkylene oxide groups. The compositions may also contain 4,41 - di - (methylbenzyl) diphenylamine and 8-hydroxyquinoline.
