Abstract

Lubricants comprise a mixture of (A) polyethers with terminal hydroxyl groups which possess as chain members a plurality of -(CH2)4-O- groups and optionally other alkylene-O- groups or esters of such polyethers and mono- or polybasic carboxylic acids or ethers of such polyethers and mono or polyhydric alcohols and (B) an alkoxylation product with terminal hydroxyl groups of a C6-C20 aliphatic alcohol or esters thereof with mono- or polybasic carboxylic acids or ethers thereof with mono- or polyhydric alcohols. The mixture may include a mineral lubricating oil and a corrosion inhibitor. Polyether (A) may be obtained from tetrahydrofuran and ethylene oxide. Alkoxylation product (B) may be obtained from ethylene or propylene oxide.ALSO:Lubricants comprise a mixture of (A) polyethers with terminal hydroxyl groups which possess as chain members a plurality of -(CH2)4-O- groups and optionally other -alkylene-O- groups or esters thereof with mono- or polybasic carboxylic acids or ethers thereof with mono- or polyhydric alcohols and (B) an alkoxylation product with terminal hydroxyl groups of a C6-C20 aliphatic alcohol or esters thereof with mono- or polybasic acids or ethers thereof with mono- or polyhydric alcohols. Polyether (A) may be obtained from tetrahydrofuran and ethylene oxide. Alkoxylation product (B) may be obtained from ethylene or propylene oxide.
