Abstract

1,049,542. Laminates; drawing articles from sheet material. SOC. RHODIACETA. Feb. 8, 1965 [March 27, 1964], No. 5391/65. Headings B5A and B5N. A method for the production of a threedimensional article comprising at least one stitchless stratified assembly consisting of an elastomer foam central element 1-10 mm. thick and two layers of unequally drawn continuous filament synthetic yarns united one to each face thereof, comprises the steps in either order of similarly shaping by moulding the two covering fabrics containing incompletely drawn yarns and the central element, and adhesively uniting the fabrics to the central element. Specified fabrics which may be woven or knitted comprise fibres of polyamides, polyesters, polyethylene, polypropylene, acrylics, polyvinyl chloride or partially acetalized polyvinyl alcohol. The specified elastomer is polyurethanes. Adhesives which may be employed are interpolyamides, interpolyesters and polyethylene. Fig. 1 shows a cross-section of a moulding device in its stand-by position, said device comprising a pressing mould 1 supported by a movable platform 4, the mould being connected by a rod 3 to an hydraulic piston.
