Abstract

Incoming air is centrifuged by fixed propeller-type vanes 82, Fig. 1, (not shown), and confined by a conical baffle 58 to the interior of the bowl 76. Air filtered through a porous element 60 leaves at 22 while solids and liquid accumulate at the bottom of the bowl. A drain valve 77 protected by a strainer 75 and governed by a float-operated pilot-valve permits egress of collected matter on attainment of a predetermined liquid level. A differential-pressure indicator (needing manual re-setting) shows at the top of the casing, when the filter element is clogged.
