Abstract

1,062,156. Liquid filter. VOKES Ltd. Nov. 15, 1963 [Nov. 20, 1962], No. 43851/62. Heading B1D. Liquid flows through a cylindrical filter 13 from an inlet tube 4 to a outlet 5, the axially extending part of tube 4 carrying a flange 8 and a detachable by-pass valve 15..22 having a flange 16, filter 13 being supported between flanges 8, 16, and the whole being located in a casing 1 having an end cover plate 25. Liquid leaves tube 4 by holes or slots 10, and if the pressure across filter 13 rises sufficiently disc 19 lifts and the filter element is by-passed through ports 17. Inlet and outlet tubes 4, 5 terminate in a common flange 6 as shown, but one of these tubes could pass through one end of the casing. Filter element 13 is deeply pleated. A narrow tube 7 between outlet 5 and the top of casing 1 prevents airlock formation. Radial webs 14 facilitate location of filter 13. A drain outlet and a vent are closed by plugs 3, 24.
