Abstract

A coated electrode for the production of welds on cast iron, particularly spheroidal cast iron, comprises a pure nickel wire disposed in an iron tube which is coated with a flux containing fluorspar, alkaline earth carbonates, graphite metal powder and ferro alloys. The amount of iron and nickel is proportioned to give the required alloy composition in the deposit e.g. 40-60% iron and 60-40% nickel.
