Abstract
1,041,671. Trueing grinding wheels. W. FERD. KLINGELNBERG SOHNE G.m.b.H. Feb. 12, 1965 [April 2, 1964], No. 6113/65. Heading B3D. A tracing device for the grinding wheel of a tool-sharpening machine comprises a cylinder 4 adapted to be secured to the guard hood 1 of the grinding wheel, a piston having a rod 5 protruding from both ends of the cylinder, a template 14 arranged parallel to the axis of the cylinder, and a trueing diamond 12 and a feeler pin 10 carried on arms 11, 9 secured to the rod, rotation of the rod during its longitudinal movement causing the same deflection of the trueing diamond as the deflection of the feeler caused by the template. The feeler pin 10 is urged into engagement with the template by a spring urged pin acting between a post 15 and the arm 9 and the pin is carried for adjustment in the arm by a fine-pitched screw. During reciprocation of the piston in its cylinder, the rod is caused to rotate by the pin and template to cause a corresponding movement of the diamond. The template may be formed by the grinding wheel which may be conical and is initially accurately trued by a known rollertrueing device. The template may be concave to produce a domed profile on the grinding wheel which is used for sharpening the teeth of a cutter.
