Abstract

1,040,323. Gun turrets. RHEINMETAL G.m.b.H. May 30, 1963 [June 1, 1962], No. 21730/63. Heading F3C. A turret platform for a revolving gun turret comprises a self-supporting structure of generally cylindrical form made of plastics material and formed with a transverse wall 4 and a false floor 9. When an armoured cupola 2 is secured to the platform the wall 4 divides the cupola into a weapon compartment 5 and a personnel compartment 6. The false floor covers an open-ended ammunition store 10 having rollers 13 fitted to the floor thereof to facilitate movement of ammunition boxes into and out of the store. The ammunition in the form of belts 15 is fed from the boxes to the weapon via conveyer 18 and the belts in the two boxes may be coupled through an opening 22 in the false floor. Housings for the turret driving mechanism are formed either side of the store below the false floor 9.
