Abstract

The forklift truck has forks engaging with the load in the lateral direction, and mounted on a plate travelling in this direction which is mounted in turn on a lifting side. Each fork prong (7) is a flat bar, sliding horizontally in guides in the lower part of a housing (6) carried by the plate (5) and controlled by a pair of drive mechanisms (41). The prongs protrude from the housing on one side or the other. Each prong can have a T-section, working in conjunction with guides in the vertical direction acting against the arms of the T. Tipping rods on either side of the pivot can also be included (73) to tilt each prong upwards so as to secure the load better.
