Abstract

1403973 Platform elevators MARK INDUSTRIES 29 Jan 1974 [10 Sept 1973] 04055/74 Heading B8H A platform 10 is raised and lowered relative to a wheeled base frame 22 by means of a pair of parallel scissors linkages 20 each consisting of three pairs of arms 20a with the arms of each pair being pivotally interconnected at their centres and a shaped bracket 20b is mounted at each end of all of the arms 20a so that the pivot axis between the ends of adjacent arms 20a is offset from the longitudinal axes of the arms which permits the linkages 20 to be collapsed to a position in which the arms 20a of each pair engage the arms of the next lowermost pair as shown in Fig. 3 (not shown). Extension of the linkages 20 is effected by means of a vertically extending hydraulic cam 60 whose piston-rod engages with the underside of the platform 10 when the latter is in its lowermost position, the ram 60 moving the platform 10 upwardly through its initial stages of travel, a further hydraulic ram 52, which is pivotally mounted on the frame 22 and has its piston-rod connected to a cross-bar 50 extending between the centres of the two lowermost pairs of linkages, completing the upward movement of the platform 10.
