Abstract

Wax compn. for protective coatings, with tensile strength >0.25 at 95 degrees C, is formed from a wax and from a gel-free ethylene/vinyl ester copolymer contng. 10-40% wt. vinyl ester (pref. acetate), the copolymer having had its initial melt index reduced by high-energy ionising radiation. Part of the irradiated copolymer is opt. replaced by a wax-reinforcing polymer compatible with the wax and contng. up to 30% wt. modifying resin.
