Abstract
Procedimiento mejorado para la preparación de ácido tereftálico (ATF) a partir de teroftalato de dimetilo (TDM) como producto intermedio, por oxidación de paraxileno y/o de éster metílico de ácido paratolúico (EPT) con gases que contienen oxígeno, en presencia de catalizadores de oxidación que contienen metales pesados, a temperatura elevada y presión elevada, esterificación de la mezcla de oxidación con metanol a temperatura elevada y presión elevada, y separación por destilación del éster bruto en una fracción rica en EPT, que es devuelta a la oxidación, y una fracción de residuo, así como un TDM bruto con un contenido limitado de productos intermedios de oxidación y otros productos secundarios, y a continuación hidrólisis continua del TDM bruto con agua, con una proporción en masa de TDM bruto a agua entre 3: 1 y 0,1: 1; y a temperaturas entre 350ºC y 140ºC y a la presión necesaria para el mantenimiento de la fase líquida, y obtención del ATF a partir de la mezcla de reacción, caracterizado porque a) se separa ATF por cristalización a partir de la mezcla de reacción, a temperaturas entre 300ºC y 150ºC, b) se reemplazan las aguas madres por agua desalinizada, c) se expande o disminuye la presión de la suspensión obtenida de agua desalinizada y ATF en una o varias etapas, y se obtiene el ATF mediante una operación de separación sólido- líquido, y d) se enfrían las aguas madres hasta que el ATF y los productos secundarios aún disueltos se separan o precipitan conjuntamente, se separan como sustancia sólida y se tratan posteriormente, y porque se recupera el metanol.
