Abstract

1. Un procedimiento para calcinar y desulfurar térmicamente por calentamiento coque de petróleo bruto teniendo un alto contenido de azufre y habiendo sido producido por el proceso de coquización demorada, caracterizado por: (a) calentar el coque en una primera temperatura en la gama de aproximadamente 490 º a aproximadamente 850ºC., por un período de tiempo en la gama de aproximadamente 30 a aproximadamente 70 paso % del contenido de materia volátil de dicho coque es removido; y (b) calentar el coque del que se ha removido parcialmente la materia volátil en una segunda temperatura de por lo menos aproximadamente 1500ºC., por un período de tiempo en la gama de aproximadamente 30 a aproximadamente 70 minutos para substancialmente calcinar por completo dicho coque y remover una porción mayor de su contenido de azufre sin prácticamente reducir la densidad en masa del coque.
