Description

The present invention relates to the technical field of marking or stamping articles made of paper, cardboard, plastics material, metal or any material capable of being marked by plastic deformation. In a preferred but nonlimiting application, the invention relates to hot stamping possibly associated with the removal of a film of a specular material such as a film of a gold, silver or more generally shiny material.

The invention also relates to the field of marks or footprints of bas-relief type, that is to say having a shallow depth of relief, likely to be present on products or articles to decorate or to attest the origin.

In the above fields, particularly in the field of protection against counterfeiting, marks or imprints whose complexity and / or structure make them difficult to reproduce by using means of reproduction for the general public, such as photocopying or printing, are sought. offset printing. Among these marks or imprints difficult to reproduce, it is possible to mention the hologram labels which however have the disadvantage of being relatively expensive to produce. The document D1 = WO-2007/144469 discloses the features of the preamble of the independent claim.

It has therefore emerged the need for a new type of marking which can notably be produced in large series using hot stamping or stamping techniques which are less expensive than the techniques for manufacturing holographic labels while presenting a great difficulty or even a problem. impossibility of reproduction by the implementation of an acquisition by means of an optical scanner and then a reproduction according to techniques of inkjet printing, laser printing, also called xerography, or offset printing .

    Figure imgb0001
In order to achieve this objective the invention relates to a footprint comprising at least one marking zone which comprises:
  • a first graphic element which defines a first marking surface covered, in part at least, with a first pattern formed by a hatching comprising an alternation of grooves and ribs parallel to one another and to a direction Δ,
  • second graphic element defining a second marking surface covered, at least in part, with a second pattern formed by a hatching comprising an alternation of grooves and ribs parallel to one another and to a direction Δ 'forming an acute angle with the direction Δ of the first pattern,
  • a part, called the background, of the marking area which is not covered by the first graphic element or by the second graphic element and which is covered by a background pattern distinct from the first and second patterns,
  • the bottom portion at least is divided into parallel strips of equal width
    Figure imgb0001
and extending in a direction D,
  • the direction Δ of the first pattern forming a positive acute angle α with the direction D,
  • the direction Δ 'of the second pattern forming a negative acute angle α' with direction D.

The presence on the impression of two graphical elements whose marking surfaces are covered by distinct hatch patterns and oriented at different angles makes it possible to obtain a light behavior such that, according to an observation direction, the first graphic element is better visible while according to another direction of observation it is the second graphic element which is better visible. Thus an observer must, to be able to read or identify the two graphic elements, move or move the footprint so as to change both the angle of incidence of the light and its direction of observation. This feature makes it difficult or impossible to properly acquire the impression according to the invention by means of a scanning optical scanner or a camera. Indeed, during such an acquisition attempt either the image obtained will be fuzzy or the image obtained will comprise only one of the two graphic elements. The imprint according to the invention is therefore difficult to reproduce in an attempt to counterfeit.

For the purposes of the invention, the term "imprint" refers both to a three-dimensional structure present on a tool used to produce the marking or embossing of a product, to a three-dimensional structure that presents a product regardless of the technique used for the production. achieve. Thus, the invention relates firstly but not exclusively to the geometric characteristics of the imprint that allow it to have the desired behavior, regardless of the technique used to make the imprint.

According to a variant of this preferred form:
  • the angle α of the first pattern has a value between 20 ° and 30 °,
  • the angle α 'of the second pattern has a value between -20 ° and -30 °.

According to another variant of this preferred form, the value of the angle α of the first pattern is the opposite of the value of the angle α 'of the second pattern.

According to yet another variant of this preferred form, the angle α of the first pattern has a value substantially equal to 22.5 ° and the angle α 'of the second pattern has a value substantially equal to -22.5 °.

According to the invention, the background pattern is chosen to have a substantially identical and uniform visual rendering irrespective of the direction of observation of the impression or the angle of incidence of the light on the latter. The background pattern may be formed by a random texture or pattern that will be perceived as optical noise by the observer of the impression at most viewing angles.

According to a variant of the preferred embodiment, the bottom pattern is formed by two bottom hatches alternately covering the parallel strips of which:
  • a first bottom hatching comprises an alternation of grooves and ribs parallel to each other and to a direction γ forming, with the direction D of the bands, a negative acute angle β distinct from the angles α and α ',
  • a second bottom hatching comprises an alternation of grooves and ribs parallel to each other and to a direction γ 'forming, with the direction D of the bands, a positive acute angle β' distinct from the angles α, α 'and β.

The combination of the two bottom hatches makes it possible to produce a kind of chevron pattern which has the particularity of being effectively perceived as having an identical appearance whatever the angle of observation.

According to a characteristic of this variant, the angle β of the first bottom hatch has a value between 30 ° and 70 ° and the angle β 'of the second bottom hatch has a value between -30 ° and -70 °.

According to another characteristic of this variant, the value of the angle β of the first bottom hatch is the opposite of the value of the angle β 'of the second bottom hatch.

According to yet another characteristic of this variant, the value of the angle β is twice the value of the angle α ', and the value of the angle β is twice the value of the angle α'.

According to one characteristic of this variant, the value of the angle β is substantially -45 °, and the value of the angle β 'is substantially 45 °.

According to a variant of the preferred embodiment of the impression according to the invention:
  • the entire marking area is divided according to the bands of the bottom part,
  • and, in regions where the two graphical elements overlap, the bands in each overlapping region are alternately covered by:
    • the first pattern for the common part at the first marking surface and the corresponding strip,
    • the second pattern for the common part at the second marking surface and the corresponding strip.

According to one characteristic of this variant, in the regions where only one of the two graphic elements is present, the bands forming part of the corresponding marking surface are alternately covered by the pattern of the corresponding graphic element and the background pattern. of the adjacent bottom part.

  • The figure 1 is a schematic view of a print according to the invention showing the different regions defined by the graphic elements and the bottom of the print with a symbolization of the patterns used.
  • The figure 2 is a schematic view of the impression according to the figure 1 showing a division, of the imprint and these graphic elements in horizontal bands, used for the establishment of the imprint patterns.
  • The figure 3 is a view showing on a large scale two graphic element patterns and two background patterns that can be implemented for a print according to the invention.
  • The figure 4 is a partial section, in straight section along a plane normal to the upper surface of the impression, of a pattern of the impression according to the invention
  • The figure 5 is a view of a detail V of the figure 2 on a larger scale schematically showing the implementation of the motives of the figure 3 .

In order to facilitate the understanding of the invention, the motifs of the graphic elements and the background are schematized or symbolized, on the figures 1 , 2, 4 and 5 by representations that do not correspond to the reality of the patterns actually implemented in the context of a print according to the invention. Indeed, the use of hatching would have made it difficult to understand the invention because of the optical perception aberrations induced by the hatching. Moreover, in these figures, the outlines of the graphic elements and the bands are represented by continuous lines in order to simplify the understanding of the invention whereas on a footprint according to the invention the outlines of the graphic elements and the possible bands are not necessarily materialized by continuous lines. Preferably, the outlines of the graphic elements and any bands are not at all materialized by continuous lines on a fingerprint according to the invention.

An impression according to the invention, generally designated by reference E figures 1 and 2 , comprises at least one marking zone 1 which according to the illustrated example has a rectangular shape, it being understood that any other shape could be envisaged. The marking zone 1 preferably has an area of less than or equal to 36 cm 2 and more preferably less than 16 cm 2 . Indeed, the best results are obtained for reduced marking areas, especially when the surface of the marking area exhibits specular behavior while the surrounding region has a diffusing behavior.

The marking zone 1 comprises two graphical elements 2 and 3, a first 2 of which is formed, according to the example illustrated, by the letters "LY" and defines a first marking surface S1 represented by angled hatches while going up to the right to the figure 1 . The second graphic element 3 is formed, according to the example illustrated, by the letters "ON" and defines a second marking surface S2 materialized by hatching hatched downwards to the right at the figure 1 . The two graphical elements 2 and 3 intersect in regions of overlap 4 materialized by black solid areas at the figure 1 .

The part of the marking zone 1, which is occupied neither by the first graphical element 2 nor by the second graphic element 3 nor by their overlapping regions 4, corresponds to a background 5 represented by a white solid surface at the figure 1 .

Ces motifs M1, M2, MF sont plus particulièrement illustrés à la figure 3.The objective of the invention is that the first 1 and second 3 graphic elements and the corresponding marking surfaces S1 and S2 have a behavior 5. For this purpose, the first marking surface S2 is covered in part by at least one first pattern M1, while the second marking surface S3 is covered in part. at least a second pattern M2 distinct from the first pattern M1, the background 5 being covered with a background pattern MF distinct from the first M1 and the second pattern M2. The background pattern MF is formed in the present case of the combination of two background hatches H1 and H1. These patterns M1, M2, MF are more particularly illustrated in the figure 3 .

Within the meaning of the invention, a pattern is a three-dimensional structure made in the surface of the product or material bearing the imprint. This three-dimensional structure then has a shallow depth compared to the thickness of the product or material bearing the imprint. Thus, a motif in the sense of the invention can be called bas-reliefs.

According to the invention, the first pattern M1 and the second pattern M2 are both formed by a hatching comprising an alternation of grooves 10 and ribs 11 as schematically shown in FIG. figure 4 . The term "groove" is used here to designate the recessed portion while the term "rib" refers to the bump portion of the three-dimensional structure constituting a pattern. The depth P of a groove 10 is then measured between, on the one hand, a plane passing through the apex of the adjacent grooves and, on the other hand, the bottom of said groove. On the figure 3 , the grooves are symbolized by the white lines while the grooves are symbolized by the black lines.

Une telle distance de lecture ou d'observation est par exemple de l'ordre de 30 cm.The grooves 10 of the various patterns or hatching of the cavity according to the invention preferably have a substantially identical depth and preferably between 0.03 mm and 0.05 mm. This groove depth makes it possible to obtain an optical behavior in accordance with the objective of the invention in the case of an observation at a reading distance or a normal observation distance for a document such as a book, an official document or a package of a small product. Such a reading distance or observation is for example of the order of 30 cm.

The first pattern M1 is therefore formed by a hatch whose grooves and ribs are parallel to each other and to a direction Δ, while the second pattern M2 is formed by a hatch whose grooves are parallel to each other and to a direction Δ '. According to the invention the directions Δ and Δ 'form an acute angle A.

Figure imgb0004
In order to facilitate the arrangement of the patterns M1, M2 and bottom hatches H1 and H2 within the cavity and in particular at its bottom 5, the bottom portion 5 and, according to the illustrated example, the first S1 and second S2 marking surfaces are divided into strips 15 parallel to each other and to a direction D as shown by FIGS. Figures 2 and 5 . The strips 15 all have the same width
Figure imgb0004
which is, according to the illustrated example, between 0.3 mm and 1 mm.

The first pattern M1 is then arranged in the first marking surface S1 so that the direction Δ of its hatching forms a positive acute angle α with the direction D of the strips 15. The angle α preferably has a value of between 20 ° and 30 °.

De manière plus particulièrement préférée l'angle α est l'opposé de l'angle α'.In the same manner, the second pattern M2 is arranged in the second marking surface S2 so that the direction Δ 'of its hatching forms a negative acute angle α' with the direction D of the strips 15. The angle α 'has preferably a value between -20 ° and -30 °. More preferably, the angle α is the opposite of the angle α '.

The first bottom hatch H1 comprises an alternation of grooves and hatching parallel to each other and to a direction γ which forms a negative acute angle β with the direction D of the strips 15. The second bottom hatch H2 comprises an alternation of grooves and grooves. hatches parallel to each other and to a direction γ 'which forms a positive acute angle β' with the direction of the strips 15.

More preferably, the angle β is the opposite of the angle β 'and is twice the value of the angle α', the angle β 'then being twice the value of the angle α .

Figure imgb0005
Preferably, the grooves and the ribs of the hatches of all the patterns of the imprint have the same width ℓ preferably between 0.3 mm and 0.1 mm. Moreover, the width
Figure imgb0005
strips 15 is chosen to be between 8 and 11 times the width ℓ hatching.

The bottom hatches H1 and H2 are then arranged on the bottom 5 so as to alternately cover the strips 15 as shown in FIG. figure 5 .

In the first marking area S1 area where only the first graphic element 2 is present, the strips forming part of the corresponding marking surface are alternately covered by the first pattern M1, symbolized by white flat area, and the background pattern of the bottom zone adjacent here the first bottom hatch H1, symbolized by a grid in fine lines, as shown in FIG. figure 5 . In the same way, in the second marking area S2 area where only the second graphic element 3 is present, the strips forming part of the corresponding marking surface are alternately covered by the second pattern M2, symbolized by a black solid surface, and the background pattern of the bottom zone adjacent here the second bottom hatch H2 symbolized by a grid in thick lines.

Par ailleurs, dans chaque région de chevauchement 4, les bandes s'inscrivant dans ladite région 4 sont alternativement couvertes par le premier motif M1 pour la partie commune à la première surface de marquage S1 et à la bande correspondante et par le deuxième motif M2 pour la partie commune à la deuxième surface de marquage S2 et à la bande correspondante comme le montre la figure 5.Moreover, in each overlapping region 4, the bands forming part of said region 4 are alternately covered by the first pattern M1 for the part common to the first marking surface S1 and the corresponding strip and by the second pattern M2 for the part common to the second marking surface S2 and to the corresponding strip as shown in FIG. figure 5 .

In addition, according to the illustrated example, the different patterns M1, M2 and MF, formed of the H1 and H2 fund hatches, are organized in such a way that:
  • for each odd band 2n + 1 the background pattern, here H1, occupies the entire area of the odd band 2n + 1 except for its region common with the first graphic element 2, thus belonging to the first marking surface S1, which is occupied by the first pattern M1, the common part of the odd band 2n + 1 with the second graphic element 3 thus being covered with the background pattern H1 of the odd band 2n + 1 ,
  • for each pair band 2n the background pattern, here H2, occupies the entire area of the even band 2n except for its region common with the second graphic element 3, therefore belonging to the second marking surface S2, which is occupied by the second pattern M2, the common part of the even band 2n with the first graphic element 2 thus covered with the background pattern H2 of the odd band.

Thus, in the overlapping regions 4, each odd band 2n + 1 is covered by the first pattern M1 in its common part with the first graphic element 2 and each pair of banks covered by the second pattern M2 in its common part with the second element graph 3.

In order to favor an optical behavior favorable to an alternating reading of two graphic elements as a function of the angle of reading and the angle of incidence of the light, the angle of the hatching of the first pattern M1 is chosen to be of a sign opposite to that of the angle of the first bottom hatch H1 and it is the same for the hatching angle of the second pattern M2 relative to that of the angle of the second hatch H2.

The imprint thus formed can be produced by chemical photoetching of a metal plate such as, for example, aluminum, magnesium or copper to form a hot stamping die 20 of paper, cardboard or plastic. .

Such a matrix may for example be used for hot stamping a blank of cardboard with the interposition of a sheet bearing a material with specular behavior such as a gilding material or silver or a bright polymeric material.

The imprint thus obtained on the cardboard side has all the characteristics described above and its surface has a specular behavior which increases the efficiency of the play of light on the impression and makes it particularly difficult the acquisition by a scrolling scanner or a digital camera.

Of course, it is possible that the impression according to the invention is directly carried out everywhere appropriate process in the surface of a material itself specular or not and thus form a finished product.

According to the example described above in relation to the Figures 1 to 5 , the graphic elements 2 and 3 are each formed by two disjoint letters. However, according to the invention the graphic elements are not necessarily formed by one or more letters and may also include one or more drawings or a combination of one or more letters with one or more drawings.

Of course, various other modifications may be made to the imprint according to the invention within the scope of the appended claims.
