Abstract

Claims (22)

  1. Shower partition comprising a door (10) which is adapted to be mounted vertically by means of a fastening device (12) generally provided at the room wall side and by at least one hinge (56, 58) and has the following features:
    a) a glass or plastic pane (50) having outer and inner surfaces defined by upper, lower, front and rear edges, said hinge (56, 68) being provided on the rear edge;
    b) edge protection members which seal both the lower edge and at least partly the front edge of said pane (50);
    c) a water discharge strip (44) arranged on a profile strip (22, 23) of the edge projection member that extends along the lower edge of said pane (50); and
    d) sealing means (26, 48) assigned to the lower edge of said protection member for preventing water from exiting from said shower partition;
    characterized by
    e) an integral corner and edge protection member of an altogether angular or [-shaped configuration which seals both said lower edge and at least partly said front edge of said pane (50) and combines a lower bottom profile strip (22) and a front profile strip (23);
    f) said water discharge strip is in the form of a water discharge channel (44) which is inclined towards the rear edge and which is internally secured to or integral with said lower and front profile strips (22, 23) of said corner and edge protection member and extends internally along said lower edge and along at least a part of the front edge of said pane (50).
  2. Shower partition according to claim 1, characterized in that said bottom profile strip (22) and/or an upper profile strip (82) of said door (10) have directly assigned thereto a guide profile of a similar shape on which said door is stopped.
  3. Shower partition according to claim 2, characterized in that an upper profile strip (82) which is similar to said bottom profile strip (22) and pertains to a similar corner and edge protection member is provided on the upper edge of said pane (50) said member being designed and mounted in mirror-inverted fashion relative to said bottom profile strip (22).
  4. Shower partition according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that said front profile strip (23) of said corner and edge protection member extends upwardly at least up to the vertical center of said door (10) and is provided with at least one grip or grip strip (42).
  5. Shower partition according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that said profile strips (22, 23, 82) on the whole are mounted on said pane (50) in a self-adhesive manner, in particular injection-moulded thereonto and/or sealingly surround said pane on said edges (21, 51, 81, 91).
  6. Shower partition according to claim 5, characterized in that a grip (42) which can be used from the outside and inside is mounted in a self-adhesive manner on said pane (50), in particular injection-moulded thereonto.
  7. Shower partition according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that said corner and edge protection member (22, 23, 82) is a non-metallic member, namely of foamed polyurethane, hard rubber, or the like.
  8. Shower partition according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that each of said profile strips (22, 23, 82) of said corner and edge protection member has a reinforcement, such as an embedded door hinge (56), a U-shaped rail (69), or the like.
  9. Shower partition according to claim 7 or 8, characterized in that said corner and edge member (22, 23, 28) and/or the reinforcement (69, 70, 71, 44) thereof is a corrosion-protected metal member consisting, for instance, of light metal, stainless steel, or the like.
  10. Shower partition according to any one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that a sealing strip (26) which is arranged along a longitudinal groove (24) on said bottom profile strip (22) comprises at least two adjacent lips (32, 33) which are each provided with a rigid base member (76) directly adjacent to said bottom profile strip (22) and with a more flexible end member (78) continuing said base member downwardly.
  11. Shower partition according to claim 10, characterized in that said sealing strip (26) is secured to the inside of said bottom profile strip (22), in particular integrally injection-moulded therewith, and that said lips (32, 33) converging on a base are preferably of different length when viewed in cross-section.
  12. Shower partition according to claim 10 or 11, characterized in that said sealing strip (26) of said bottom profile strip (22) is detachably secured in said downwardly open longitudinal groove (24) which has substantially parallel walls, and comprises a rigid support (28) that has a hollow profile which is provided with screw openings (30) on the front side and positively grips over an enlarged upper portion of a flexible lip (32).
  13. Shower partition according to claim 12, characterized in that a ∩-shaped holding member (34) is respectively inserted or can be snapped in a direction transverse to the longitudinal groove (24) of said bottom profile strip (22) on or near the ends thereof, that said sealing strip (26) is held by screws (36) drawn into said screw openings (30) on said holding member (34), and that said longitudinal groove (24) is tightly sealed by means of end stoppers (38).
  14. Shower partition according to claim 12 or 13, characterized in that said longitudinal groove (24) of said bottom profile strip (22) is offset outwardly relative to an upper holding groove (54) for said pane (50) or disposed in an upstream position or is arranged in alignment with said holding groove (54), and that said sealing strip (26) is cranked from a fastening point or plane offset relative to said pane (50) towards the transverse center of said bottom profile strip (22).
  15. Shower partition according to any one of claims 1 to 14, characterized in that said discharge channel (44) forms a grip integral with said front profile strip (23), in particular, on or above the vertical center of said partition or door (10).
  16. Shower partition according to any one of claims 1 to 15, characterized in that said discharge channel (44) is detachably secured, for instance by means of a plug-type or snap-type connection (72, 74), to said bottom profile strip (22) and to said second profile strip (23) of said corner and edge protection member that closes said front edge (46) of said glass or plastic pane (50).
  17. Shower partition according to any one of claims 15 or 16, characterized in that said discharge channel (44) comprises at least one reinforcing member (70), such as a rib or metal insert (71) which transversely stiffens said channel, and/or that said discharge channel (44) forms a profile-strip reinforcing member.
  18. Shower partition according to any one of claims 15 to 17, characterized in that said discharge channel (44), or each of said discharge channels (44), terminates at the bottom and/or on the inside in a repelling edge (45) which returns overflowing water into the interior of said shower partition.
  19. Shower partition according to any one of claims 1 to 18, characterized in that adjacent partitions or doors (10) join each other with facing front edges (46) in angled fashion or continuously, for instance for forming a corner-type or round shower partition, a respective magnetic strip (48) being embedded in the front edges (46) of said partition or door (10).
  20. Shower partition according to any one of claims 1 to 19, characterized in that said door (10) or each of said doors (10) ends at the room wall side on a connection wall as a fastening means which continues or straightens the contour given by said door (10).
  21. Shower partition according to any one of claims 1 to 20, characterized in that said pane (50) is provided at the room wall side with a profile strip (92) which is integrally followed by a seal (66).
  22. Shower partition according to any one of claims 1 to 21, characterized in that said fastening means (12) at the room wall side has associated therewith an adjustable opening limiting means for said door (10).
