Abstract

The invention applies to a waste-paper basket having a detachable tub for receiving litter held against a support column by a hook-and-bolt system. According to the invention, the support column (2) has towards its upper part (2) an element forming a tub-cover (2) completely solid with an elongated central beam essentially vertical in its position of use. The invention applies in particular to a basket intended to be used at a fixed site in the street to receive litter tossed away by passersby.

Description

The subject of the invention is a wastepaper basket intended to be used at a fixed post in the streets to receive the waste thrown by passers-by.

More specifically, the basket of the invention is of the type comprising a waste receiving tank; a support upright comprising a substantially vertical beam against which the tank is held by an attachment and locking system, said tank having on its rear face directed towards the beam, a hollow shape for cooperating with this beam; a tank cover connected to the upper part of said beam and articulation means for pivoting the tank relative to the support upright about a substantially horizontal axis located towards the base of this tank.

The document EP-A 0 060 794 relates to a basket of this type. But this basket is such that the tank cover (which is in this case a cover) is pivotally mounted relative to the support upright between an open position in which the tank can be removed from the upright and a closed position, in which this same tank is held against the upright.

As for the publication DE-U 7 330 880 it describes a basket, the tank cover of which is fixedly mounted on the support-upright of the tank. However, this tank is not pivotally mounted on the upright.

Taking into account in particular these two publications, the object of the invention is to propose a basket:
  • a) that one can easily disengage or engage by simple tilting with respect to the support upright on which the tank must be able to pivot in a controlled manner, while being guided,
  • b) which is of a robust construction with an "enveloping" and fixed tank cover which can be effectively reinforced to cope with vandalism,
  • c) and which can be made of molded plastic with a minimum of parts.

It is for this purpose that the invention proposes a basket of the aforementioned type which is characterized in that the tank cover is closed laterally by panels and is formed in one piece with the bottom of the support upright, the lower part flares laterally by presenting two inclined planes ensuring the guidance of the tank, the hollow shape of which extends substantially vertically over the height of its rear face.

In some cases, it may be useful for the tank to be held in a stable position, close to the vertical, in particular during the unlocking operation, thus preventing it from overturning and its contents spilling over the ground. To this end, and in accordance with a complementary characteristic of the invention, the tank and its support upright may comprise complementary means for retaining in tilting of the tank when it is unlocked, said means comprising, on the tank and projecting from the outer face of side walls, ramps which come to cooperate with complementary ramps forming abutments arranged facing the side panels of the tank cover.

Referring first to Figure 1, the support upright identified as a whole 1 has towards its upper part 11, an element 2 forming a tank cover integral with a single piece of a central beam 3 elongated and substantially vertical in use position of the basket; that is to say when it is fixed to a pole or held on the ground. In the example shown in Figure 1, the tank cover 2 comprises two panels 4, 14, substantially vertical, an upper wall 24, which can be inclined relative to the horizontal, and a rear face 34 secured to a integral with the beam 3. The edge 25 of the upper wall 24 is positioned so as to allow passers-by to easily throw the waste into the receptacle provided for this purpose. The beam 3 has towards its part in lower 13 a shape which widens laterally, on either side of the median axis 5, by presenting two planes 6, 16 inclined for guiding the tank 7. On the flared part, two projecting parts 8 are arranged, 18, which may for example be in the form of pins, which extend from the side faces of the flared part towards the outside.

Referring now to Figure 2, we see a removable tank 7 of the support upright 1 and intended to receive the waste. The tank 7 has towards its upper end 17, and in the example shown, two projecting shapes 9, 19 arranged laterally on the sides of the tank. The protruding shapes 9, 19 extend from the lateral external walls 20 towards the outside, and each appear as a triangle comprising two ramps 29, 39 and one of the points of which is directed substantially downwards. . The two ramps 29, 39 cooperate with two projecting parts 12, 22 arranged for this purpose on the side panels 4, 14 of the support upright 1. The parts 12, 22 extend from the internal part of the side panels 4, 14 outwards.

These parts 12, 22 can for example be in the form of two journals which offer at least one rounded ramp which cooperates with the ramp (s) of the tank 7.

The tank cover of the invention illustrated in particular in Figure 1 is open towards the front and downwards and does not have any stiffening means connecting the two side panels 4, 14 of the tank cover to each other, in particular towards their part. lower front.

Also these panels, although provided rigid and resistant, could be twisted and damaged, by possible vandals, if significant efforts of deformation were printed to them.

This is why, in an alternative embodiment, (FIGS. 11 to 14), provision is made to reinforce each of the side panels 4, 14 of the tank cover by a cheek 610 placed slightly apart towards the inside of the corresponding panel. , and in which is formed a groove. 600 forming a slide intended to receive a stud 500 projecting laterally towards the outside 20 of the tank and the head 501 of which penetrates, during the engagement of the tank on the support upright, in the intermediate space 620 formed between the cheek 610 and the side panel 4, 14 opposite.

Preferably the cheeks extend substantially perpendicular to the panels and the grooves which open downwards and in the front have, towards their bottom, a housing 630 forming a stop for receiving the pins in the locked position of the tank.

As illustrated in FIG. 11, the pins 500 are formed at the upper part 17, towards the front of the tank (and in front of the ramps 9, 19), their head 501 advantageously having the shape of a cam (FIG. 13) whose the widest part comes to bear against the walls of the intermediate space 620, and this when the tank is engaged in the locking position on the upright, so as to leave it then practically no transverse play.

In Figures 13 and 14, the cheeks have been added and fixed to the panels by screws. However, they could also be made by molding with the panels.

The hollow shape 21 is adapted to cooperate with the beam 3 of the support upright 1. It therefore has two vertical walls 28 over the major part of the height of the tank and which widen towards the base 37 of the tank, at an angle complementary to that of the flared part of the beam 3.

The tank 7 is articulated around the support upright 1 towards its base 37. To this end, the tank 7 has a pivoting means which comprises two grooves 26, in the form of an inverted gutter, hollowed out on either side of the shape 21 in the bottom 23 of the tank 7. The grooves 26 extend coaxially, along the transverse axis 31, of the inclined wall 28 towards the inside of the tank without opening on the sides (or side walls) of said tank. Each groove 26 is provided, as shown in particular in Figure 4, with at least one rib 32, forming half-bearing and directed downwards. Each rib which extends towards the inside of said grooves 26 cooperates, in the position of use, with the pivots, or trunnions 8, 18 which extend transversely to the beam 3, having been provided for this purpose on said beam. .

Returning to FIG. 3, it is noted that the bottom 23 of the tank 7 has a hollow depression 51. This depression extends substantially parallel to the rear face 27 of the tank.

In order to prevent the person responsible for emptying the tank from being able to place it on the ground after the operation, without positioning it and locking it again on the support post 1, the bottom 23 of the tank is inclined towards the bottom, from front to back (that is to say towards the rear face 27 of the tank).

Referring now to FIG. 9, it will be noted that the means for hooking and locking the tank 7 on the support post 1 comprises a movable hook 33 which pivots around the substantially vertical axis 52 and is integral with a control shaft 35. The hook 33 is provided with a return member in the closed position, for example a spring 38, and cooperates with a tooth 40 disposed on the rear face 27 of the tank 7 (FIG. 10). In the position of use; the control shaft is disposed substantially vertically, inside the beam 3 and on the upper part thereof, in order to allow the hook 33 to cooperate at its end 33a with the tooth 40. In addition, the control shaft 35 is integral with hook 33:
  • in rotation by its external shape with at least locally non-circular section which cooperates with the corresponding internal section of the hook,
  • - In vertical translation by a clip 36 intended to be inserted in a housing 30 provided for this purpose on said hook.

La rotation du crochet 33 rappelée par le ressort est limitée par un ergot 33b.The rotation of the hook 33 recalled by the spring is limited by a lug 33b.

This embodiment differs from that illustrated in FIG. 10 in that, on the one hand, the tooth 40 extends (at 400) beyond the plane which passes through the center of rotation (52) of the hook 33 and which constitutes the plane of the tank relative to the support upright, and in that, on the other hand, the hook 33 includes a recess 300 formed recessed in the direction of the extension 400 of the tooth 40. Thus, in the event of traction untimely on the tank 7 substantially parallel to the operating axis 100, without prior unlocking, the hook will tend not to pivot in the direction of its release from the tooth 40, but on the contrary to be driven in self-locking under the action of a couple É directed in the direction of a closer engagement between the hook, at the level of its withdrawal 300, and the tooth, at the level of its extension 400.

In FIG. 15, it will be noted that the operating plane of the tank is represented by the axis 100, the arrows 101 and 102 representing, respectively, the directions of engagement and release of said tank 7 on the support upright 1.

In the following, we will describe the operation of unlocking the tank of the support upright.

At the start of the operation, the tank 7 is in position on the support upright 1 (FIG. 5); that is to say that the pivoting means of the tank around the horizontal axis 31 cooperates with the projecting parts 8, 18 and that the hook 33 cooperates with the tooth 40 in order to lock the tank 7 on the upright -support 1: the hook 33 blocking the tank by engagement on the tooth 40 thanks to the return spring 38 which, when it is bandaged, automatically returns by its torque to the hook in the engagement position with the tooth (figure 10).

Note, moreover, that when the tank 7 is in position on the support upright 1, the projecting elements 9, 19 of the tank 7 are located behind the projecting parts 12, 22 of the support upright 1. In order to to clarify the explanations, the rear and front sides of the basket have been identified in FIG. 5; the rear face being that where the rear panel 27 of the tank 7 cooperates with the beam 3 of the support upright.

In order to release the tank from the support upright, the tank is first unlocked. To this end, the movable hook is released from the cooperating tooth by pivoting it around its vertical axis 52 by acting on the head 35 ′ of the control shaft 35. However, the tank only rocks very slightly around its pivot axis 31; it is in fact retained in position by the cooperating ramps 12, 22, 39. In order to separate the tank and the support upright, it is necessary, after the unlocking operation, to slightly raise the tank 7 by pulling it forward (the tank can then be guided by the pins 500 with an enlarged head 501 sliding in the grooves 600 of the cheeks 610), which makes it possible to free from above the ramps 39 of the tank 7 from the cooperating ramps 12, 22 of the support upright 1, as shown by the arrows in FIG. 6. The tank 7 can then be pivoted, if desired, around the pivoting upright 1, along the horizontal axis 31, since the ramps 39, 29 of the parts 9 , 19 of the tank are located in front of the cooperating ramps 12, 22 of the support upright 1. In order to facilitate handling, the user can grasp the tank 7 both by its upper part and by the internal depression 51 located on the bottom 23 of the tank, as shown in FIG. 7.

With regard to the operation of replacing the tank 7 in position on the support post 1, it will be noted only that before the locking operation, it suffices to push the tank towards the support upright by making the ramps 29, 12, 22 cooperate and by engaging the pins 500 in the grooves of the cheeks 610 (when provided).

Of course, different variants of the basket can be envisaged. In particular, it can be provided that the tank 7 has at least on part of its rear face 27, a single projecting part 9 arranged and maintained parallel to the upper part of this face, by means provided for this purpose. The protruding part 9 will then have at least one ramp such as 29, 39 which will cooperate with the protruding shapes 12, 22 provided in a complementary manner on the rear wall 34 of the support upright 1.

On pourrait également concevoir d'autres formes de réalisation des rampes 29, 39, 12; 22 pour les rendre coopérantes: cylindre, losange...One could also conceive of other embodiments of the ramps 29, 39, 12; 22 to make them cooperative: cylinder, diamond ...
